Accessibility
Statement
Audio Imperial is committed to making our website accessible to every customer. This statement explains our current level of conformance, the steps we take, and how to reach us if you encounter any barriers.
Everyone Deserves Access to Great Sound
At Audio Imperial, we believe great hi-fi audio should be within reach of every listener — not just those without barriers. That means our website must be equally navigable, readable, and functional for customers who use assistive technologies, rely on keyboard navigation, or experience visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor-related disabilities.
We operate audioimperial.com as a U.S.-based online retailer under NMG Express LLC, a Florida-registered company. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III, websites operated as places of public accommodation in the United States are required to be accessible to individuals with disabilities. We take that obligation seriously, not only as a legal requirement, but as a core part of how we treat every customer.
This Accessibility Statement is a transparent, accurate account of where our website currently stands, what we have implemented, where known limitations exist, and precisely how to contact us if you encounter a barrier. We update this statement whenever meaningful changes are made to our site or accessibility posture.
“Accessibility is not an afterthought at Audio Imperial. It is built into how we develop and evaluate our website, and we are committed to improving it continuously.”
The Legal Framework That Guides Our Work
Audio Imperial operates exclusively in the United States. The following federal statutes, guidelines, and regulations form the accessibility framework we apply to audioimperial.com.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — Title III
Title III of the ADA (42 U.S.C. § 12182) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in places of public accommodation. Federal courts and the Department of Justice have consistently applied Title III to commercial websites, including those operated by online-only retailers. Audio Imperial treats our website as a place of public accommodation and works to ensure it does not exclude or disadvantage customers with disabilities.
42 U.S.C. § 12101–12213Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 — Level AA
Published by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), WCAG 2.1 is the globally recognized technical standard for web accessibility. Level AA conformance is the threshold required by U.S. accessibility regulations and referenced by the DOJ in enforcement actions. Our target is full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across all pages of audioimperial.com, including product listings, cart, and checkout flows.
W3C WCAG 2.1 / ISO 40500Rehabilitation Act of 1973 — Section 508
Section 508 (29 U.S.C. § 794d) mandates that federal agencies and their contractors make electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. While Section 508 primarily targets federal entities, the standards it references — now aligned with WCAG 2.1 Level AA — serve as the benchmark for what technically accessible websites look like. We use these same standards as guidance for our own development.
29 U.S.C. § 794dDOJ Web Accessibility Final Rule (2024)
In April 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice issued a Final Rule under Title II of the ADA establishing WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the legally enforceable standard for state and local government websites, and signaling the same benchmark for Title III compliance reviews. While the rule directly governs public entities, Audio Imperial voluntarily applies the same WCAG 2.1 AA threshold to our commercial site as best practice and to align with DOJ enforcement expectations.
28 C.F.R. Part 35Florida Civil Rights Laws & Consumer Protections
As a Florida-registered business (NMG Express LLC), we are subject to the Florida Civil Rights Act (Chapter 760, Florida Statutes) and Florida’s Consumer Protection statutes (Chapter 501, Florida Statutes). Florida law prohibits discriminatory treatment in places of public accommodation based on disability. We operate our website in compliance with both federal ADA requirements and Florida’s parallel state-level protections.
Fla. Stat. § 760.08 / Ch. 501FTC Act — Accurate & Non-Deceptive Representations
The Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. § 45) requires that all representations made by businesses — including claims about product availability and customer service — be truthful and non-deceptive. We apply this requirement to our accessibility claims: we do not overstate our conformance level, and this statement accurately reflects our actual current status rather than aspirational goals presented as achieved facts.
15 U.S.C. § 45 — FTC ActWhere audioimperial.com Currently Stands
Being transparent about our conformance level is essential. Below is an honest assessment of the current accessibility status of our Shopify storefront, including areas where we are actively working toward fuller conformance.
What “Partially Conformant” Means in Practice
The core pages of our website — including the homepage, product category pages, individual product listings, cart, and contact page — are designed with accessibility in mind and meet the majority of WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria. Areas where we have identified gaps or where third-party components introduce limitations are listed transparently in the Known Limitations section below. Our target is to achieve full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across all owned content.
Accessibility Measures Built Into audioimperial.com
The following accessibility features and design practices have been implemented on our website to support users who rely on assistive technologies or have specific access needs.
Semantic HTML Structure
Our pages use proper HTML5 semantic elements — including headings (<h1> through <h3>), landmarks (<main>, <nav>, <footer>), and structured lists — so that screen readers can navigate content logically and efficiently. Heading levels follow a sequential hierarchy without skipping levels.
Alt Text on Product Images
Every product image on our site — including amplifiers, DACs, music streamers, speakers, and turntables — is assigned meaningful alt text that describes the product shown. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes (alt="") so screen readers skip them without interruption. This ensures that visually impaired customers receive the same product information as sighted users.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements on audioimperial.com — including navigation menus, product filters, add-to-cart buttons, quantity selectors, and checkout steps — are operable using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse or touch input. Tab order follows the visual layout of pages, and keyboard focus indicators are visible on all interactive components.
Color Contrast Compliance
Text on our website meets or exceeds the WCAG 2.1 Level AA minimum contrast ratios: 4.5:1 for normal-sized body text and 3:1 for large text and UI components. We do not rely on color alone to convey information, status, or instructions. Critical information such as product availability, pricing, and error messages is conveyed through both color and text labels.
Responsive & Scalable Design
Our website is fully responsive and has been tested at viewport widths from 320px (small mobile) to 1440px (large desktop). Text can be resized up to 200% using browser zoom without loss of content or functionality. We do not restrict text scaling via CSS, ensuring that users who rely on browser-level text enlargement can navigate our site comfortably.
Form Labeling & Error Handling
All form fields — including checkout address fields, email entry forms, and contact inputs — have programmatically associated labels. Error messages are descriptive and identify the specific field in error, explaining both what went wrong and how to correct it. Required fields are clearly indicated both visually and programmatically.
Skip Navigation Link
A “Skip to main content” link is available at the top of every page, allowing screen reader and keyboard-only users to bypass the site header and navigation menu and jump directly to the main page content. This is consistent with WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.4.1 (Bypass Blocks) and is among the most practical features for keyboard-dependent users.
ARIA Landmark Roles & Labels
Where native HTML semantics are insufficient, we use ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) landmark roles and labels to communicate page structure to assistive technologies. Dynamic content — such as cart updates, product availability changes, and promotional messages — is announced to screen reader users using appropriate ARIA live region attributes.
Reduced Motion Support
Our website respects the prefers-reduced-motion CSS media query. Customers who have configured their operating system to minimize animations — a common accommodation for users with vestibular disorders, photosensitivity, or cognitive differences — will experience significantly reduced or eliminated animations on our site. This includes decorative background animations and scroll-reveal transitions.
Consistent Navigation & Layout
Navigation menus, breadcrumbs, and page structure are consistent across all pages of audioimperial.com. Customers who use screen readers or cognitive aids can predict where navigation elements appear without having to relearn page layouts on each visit. Our site header, footer, and primary navigation remain in the same location on every page.
Link Purpose & Descriptive Text
All links on our website have descriptive, meaningful link text that communicates the destination or action, even when read out of context by a screen reader. We avoid generic link text such as “click here” or “read more” without accompanying context. Product links include the product name; policy links include the policy name; external links are indicated as opening in a new tab.
Page Language Declaration
Every page on audioimperial.com declares its primary language as English (lang="en") in the HTML element. This allows screen readers to apply the correct pronunciation rules and language-specific voice profiles when reading page content aloud. This is a fundamental requirement under WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 3.1.1 (Language of Page).
Transparent Disclosure of Current Gaps
Transparency is essential to a credible accessibility statement. The following limitations have been identified on audioimperial.com. We disclose these so that customers can plan alternative access routes where needed, and so that our remediation priorities are publicly documented. This list is updated whenever issues are resolved or newly identified.
| Area / Component | Description of Limitation | WCAG Criterion | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Third-Party Payment Gateway | The Shopify checkout payment fields (credit card entry) are rendered by Shopify’s hosted payment infrastructure and a third-party gateway. Some fields within this flow may have reduced screen reader label associations that are outside our direct control to remediate. We have reported these issues to Shopify. Customers who encounter barriers in checkout may contact us by phone or email for order assistance. | 1.3.1 — Info and Relationships | In Progress |
| Live Chat Widget | Our live chat tool, embedded from a third-party provider, may not be fully operable using a keyboard alone in all interaction states. The chat window may not announce incoming messages to screen readers using ARIA live regions in all scenarios. Customers who prefer an accessible alternative may reach us at +1 888-865-1086 or support@audioimperial.com. | 2.1.1 — Keyboard; 4.1.3 — Status Messages | Scheduled Review |
| Financing Widget | The third-party financing and installment payment widget available at checkout is provided by an external financing partner. The accessibility conformance of this component is subject to the third party’s own compliance posture, which we do not control. We have requested accessibility documentation from our financing provider. Customers may skip this widget and complete purchases without financing, or contact us for assistance. | 1.3.1 — Info and Relationships; 2.1.1 — Keyboard | In Progress |
| Product Comparison Feature | The product comparison tool (where available) may present comparison tables that are not fully associated with row and column headers in a manner that supports all screen reader table navigation modes. We are reviewing the table structure to ensure all data cells are programmatically linked to their headers per WCAG 1.3.1. | 1.3.1 — Info and Relationships | In Progress |
| Older Product Images | A small subset of product images uploaded prior to our accessibility review may have generic or missing alt text. We are systematically auditing product listings and updating all image alt attributes with descriptive text. New product images added after June 2025 include compliant alt text as standard practice. | 1.1.1 — Non-text Content | In Progress |
| PDF Product Documents | Some manufacturer-supplied product specification documents, user manuals, and technical data sheets available for download on product pages are provided as PDFs by the brand manufacturer. We cannot guarantee that all third-party PDFs are tagged for accessibility. We will provide the same information in accessible HTML format upon request — contact us at support@audioimperial.com. | 1.1.1 — Non-text Content; 1.3.1 | Scheduled Review |
